The Author
João Pedro Olinda de Macêdo, born in 2005, is a medical student at the University of Brasília. Since a young age, he has had a profound interest in prehistory, an interest that gradually led him to discover other areas, such as microbiology and astronomy. As a result, Tales from the Phanerozoic, a project five years in the making, seeks to integrate all these areas in a cohesive whole, giving Earth’s past an in-depth look that does not stop at what the eye can see. Apart from this work, João, at 9 years of age, published his first book: an illustrated compendium of prehistoric animals drawn by himself, named “A Mais Atual Enciclopédia da Pré-História”. After that, at 15 years of age, he wrote two science fiction stories called “They” and “Lost in Time”, both of which were, once again, based on his long-time fascination with the past. Now, Tales from the Phanerozoic, with the amazing illustrations of the very talented paleoartist Vitor Silva, functions almost as an update to that first book from several years ago, giving now extinct beings a new and more integrated perspective.
